Everyone enjoys lounging in a garden hammock! There are many different hammock styles, sizes, fabrics and colors and there is sure to be one that is perfect for you and your garden. You may choose from a single person hammock, a two-person hammock, a hammock swing or a hammock chair. Whichever style type you choose you can be sure that it will be comfortable practical and convenient.
Rope or Fabric HammocksThese are the regular, classic hammocks that we’re all familiar with. They can be purchased dual or single person size and generally have a maximum weight capacity of around 450 pounds although some can hold more. Whether you choose a rope or a fabric hammock will depend on your preferences. Fabric hammocks tend to be more comfortable, especially the quilted types, rope hammocks in many people’s opinion look more attractive. If you are using a hammock for long periods outside then be careful to buy one with a substantial amount of polyester rather than cotton.
Hammock ChairsHammock chairs are very useful if you have limited space and can look very attractive. They only need to be fastened in one place and optically good hanging from trees in the garden. They’re made from the same materials as classic hammocks so you should take the same cautions, i.e. making sure it is weather proof if you are using it outside. they are also more stable than regular hammocks sold very useful for children who may have difficulty coming in and out of the usual type of hammock. They can also be used with stands you don’t want to attach them to a tree or post in the garden.
Although all hammocks could be considered as portable they do need positions to hang them from. Portable hammocks come with their own stands or frames which fold up and can be transported easily. You do not need then to attach the hammock to any tree or post etc. You just need to unfold the stand and put your hammock in it. They are great for camping or for picnicking or for taking to the beach. you should look for stands that are they light and see what size they are when fully folded. You should also make sure that the stand is sturdy enough for the weight of the person who will be using it as some are rather flimsy.
If you don’t want to hang the hammock from the tree or post in the garden, you could purchase a hammock stand instead. They come in both wood and metal, although the wooden stands tend to be more stable. Most of them have spreader bars to retain the shape of the hammock and make it easy to get in and out. Metal stands are lighter than wooden stands and easier to transport. Stands are very handy as you can move your hammock around to keep in shade.
Hammock swingsHammock swings come in different styles including double hammock swings for two people, single rope hammock swings and swing chairs. They are very comfortable and look very attractive. Teenagers will love a hammock swing in their rooms!
Although most of us think of classic hammocks there are many other types available that may be more suitable for your needs. Any of the outdoor garden hammocks we have talked about here would look attractive and be practical. Look at all the different types before you decide on what type of how much you should buy.
